Haryana boy Deepak Punia has done the nation proud by winning gold at the World Cadet Championship for wrestling. In the final of the 85 kg category, the 17-year-old lad defeated Turkish opponent Nail Seyyar.
Deepak is reported to be the son of a milkman from the north Indian state, and has been winning his medals from a very tender age of seven. He had earlier bagged gold at the Asian cadet championship and Junior Asian championships respectively.
The win reportedly made up for his failure to win any medal in the world junior championships recently.
