A malware has hit computers mostly running the Windows XP in more than 150 countries, with more devices affected in Asia. The Windows OS has not been upgraded since 2014, leading to a gradual fade.
The virus reportedly took control of users’ files, and then, asked for a payment of $300 towards restoration. Microsoft said the last threat capitalizes on a fault detected by the US Intelligence.
The “ransomware” cyber-attack first came to the fore on Friday, and technical experts have put up posts which advice computer users to stave off any such threat in the week starting Monday.
