The Congress has suspended one of the leaders in Uttar Pradesh for reports of calling Vice President Rahul Gandhi as “pappu”, a nickname that he is referred to by most of the opposition.
Meerut Congress chief Vinay Pradhan reportedly shared a WhatsApp message that attacked the opposition for calling Gandhi as “pappu” in spite of his struggle to fight farmers, students and the youth. Pradhan has been dismissed from all posts in the party, sources noted.
The shared message soon snowballed into trouble for Pradhan, who insisted that he was pushed to the corner by his rival, and that he would explain about the matter to Congress high command.
Recently, MP Sandeep Dikshit from the Congress itself had referred to Army General Bipin Rawat as ‘sadak ka goonda’. According to reports, Dikshit had been issued a warning over the remark.
Meanwhile, the BJP has labeled the Congress’ action as of double standards, and claimed that wile Pradhan was expelled promptly on Rahul remark, Dikshit was let go with a mere form of caution.
