US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have held conclusive round of talks in Washington, which were awaited as the meet featuring heads of states of two of the world’s largest democracies.
According to reports, the White House issued a statement after the meet. The statement touched upon the significance of 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The two leaders have said they would provide a strong leadership to citizens of both the countries, and aim to fight global challenges hand-in-hand.
The two leaders have had a re-look at the UN Charter, and have affirmed that the balance of power in the region can be stabilized by working for peace, integrity, and respecting the access to territorial air and waters for bolstering trade and commerce.
The statement further reiterated on solving international and regional disputes through dialogue, thereby ensuring cohesive environment and building of trust. This would go a long way in respecting territorial integrity respect of sovereignty in accordance with the rule of law.
Meanwhile, the President has tweeted saying both himself and Prime Minister Modi have been the most prominent international leaders on social media. Trump said he has been saying that he would find a good friend in Modi once elected to the White House, and that has materialized. The two nations’ leaders are some of the most followed on Twitter.
